My life story – From Baby Blue

I am at least 60 years old and I live in a flint cottage that is about 100 years old. I used to burn furnacite up to about 1988 and then I was converted to oil. I think my colour is known as ‘baby blue’ or Powder Blue, now called duck egg blue I guess. I love it where I am because I am looked after well. I am not kept on all the year round because I use quite a bit of oil and understand it is quite expensive so I keep the cottage nice and warm from October to April. It is nearly time for my service now and a very nice man will come and make sure I am okay to be lit again. I am looking forward to that and then to be warm! It will be great to cook all those lovely meals in my ovens and boil the home grown vegetables on the top.
