Local Rayburn! – Rob

I inherited this wonderful old solid fuel Rayburn No.1 when I moved into an old cottage in Telford. We live about one mile away from the Aga factory, so I assume that this is a locally produced model - you could pretty much have wheeled it down the road! The local factory have been wonderful and were able to give me a photocopy of the original instructions (circa 1950 by the look of them!) and also sell me replacement firebricks and grates. I toyed with the idea of converting to gas a year or so ago, but an engineer with some foresight advised me against it as he foresaw soaring gas prices. Solid fuel isn't a particularly cheap option, but isn't too bad and this wonderful thing gives the house a lovely ambient warmth throughout the winter as well as endless hot water!
