AGA Stories

my Aga saga – Phyllis

began in 1943 when my younger sister arrived and the decision was made to make life easier for my Mother and discard the coal stove. The solid fuel model involved much riddling at night and refilling but was a definite success, especially at breakfast. Other family relatives also went for the change of cooker so it must have meant big sales in mid-Cornwall, bearing in mind that it was wartime ! Cold newly born lambs loved it and drying of wet outer garments was easy-peasy. I was able to realise my ambition to own one in 1978 and although it looks rather the worse for wear now (hence no picture !) it has been a treasure - if you have to get up in the night it is absolute heaven to enter a warm kitchen.
