Our house has been owned by our family since 1951. I am the third generation. The original AGA was purchased by my Grandparents in 1951, for £400 I believe,I have records and receipts somewhere in the attic. In 1972 my Mother updated the kitchen and purchased a new AGA to complement it. This AGA is still in current use today heating the kitchen and all the house hot water. I fill it up with solid fuel at 10pm every night, this was always called "mending the AGA". I clean all the flues once a month,as taught by my grandfather. Arriving home in the cold winter months a quick blast of hot air from the top oven revives us, the top oven is also used as a hairdryer a feetwarmer cures back ache toothache tummy ache dries logs oh and it cooks the joints as well (meat joints for you younger readers)There have been no modifications done to Our Aga apart from my sister's over zealous cleaning whereupon she mistook the front AGA name plate, which had a black back ground for dirt/soot and polished it to all out to reveal the silver background, sorry MR AGA for defacing your design, My sister was taken out and shot the following morning which we felt addressed the situation. Don't dig up our patio.
