AGA Stories

Saved from scrap – Mickey

Our Aga had been taken from an old lady's house in one piece on wooden rollers and was advertised for sale in the 'farmers guardian'. It was to be found in the open air on an allotment. we bought it and it was delivered along witte rollers on the back of a wagon with a crane arm which lowered it to the ground. the aga stood in the barn for 3 years till we had th money to install it. I spent weeks cleaning, stripping it down and replacing a few parts and finally got it into the house on a pallet truck. We believe its a 1940s model. The children christened it 'trevor' after the traction engine in thomas the tank engine who was famously saved from scrap. It is the heart of our home now.
