Aga Thermic – Dennis

We inherited our Aga when we bought our house in April 1984. It's an oil fired Aga Thermic. The house's previous owners bought it new in 1973 and they used it as they're only form of cooking. Well, at first, we didn't understand it. Not that we could use it anyway. The outside oil tank was rotten! So, after a new oil tank installation and a service, we lit it for the first time in the winter of 1984. After taking time getting used to it, my wife and I fell in love with it. The food taste is so much better than a conventional oven. We also have copious supplies of hot water and the Aga heats the kitchen beatifully. Even on the coldest Winter's day. Sadly our Aga story has a downside. The old girls looking quite tired now (The Aga, not my wife) and in need of refurbishment. I'd love to carry out the work myself, as I'm from an engineering background and I've carried out the 6 monthly services on it for some years. However, it seems that other than service parts, (wicks etc) no spare parts are available from Aga for the Thermic models!! Such a shame, because it's the best cooker we have owned. So, because we like the older Aga's I'm now looking for a tired 4 oven Aga Standard model to restore.
