Iron Maiden – Yvonne

My present Aga is my third. The first, a 1965 model, was bought for £80 second-hand and transported in pieces in our Morris 1000 Traveller to our home in Wiltshire. The second a brand new blue one my husband gave me when we moved to the Lake District. Sadly, my husband died within six months of the move, and I was left with the Aga and two dogs who loved it as much as I did. Some months later I met the man who was to become my second husband. He didn't want to live in the North and certainly not with an Aga, which the engineer assured me I could take with me! However, after we were married and moved south my husband agreed to visit the local Aga showrooms where, with very little arm twisting, he agreed to attend the demonstration which was in progress. Result- The purchase of a four oven Aga, Iron Maiden, as he liked to call it and happiness all round.
