AGA Stories

Happy Holidays – www.charentemaritime.co.uk

In 2002 we took the plunge and moved from Brighton, Sussex, to South West France. After a couple of very cold winters we decided that what our farmhouse needed was an aga. My husband returned to England with the children and bought an Aga off Ebay- turned out to be a 1937 edition, Model C, complete with an instuction poster. He lovingly restored it back to working condition when he got it back to France. He even made the grills for the oven, as it is a smaller oven and the size we needed are no longer available. We count the days in October when we relight it and shut it down again in May. We now would not live in a house without one. It's a focal point in our kitchen and everyone migrates towards it! Thanks go to Dr Gustav Dalen and his dedicated team in 1922! Sheer brilliance!
