AGA Stories

A life-long love affair! – Joanna

I grew up with Agas (my mother had 4 - in 4 different homes!) so therefore I learnt to cook with them. My Mum used to say 'forget about diamonds, an Aga is a girl's best friend!'. I was married for twenty-five years before I finally managed to have an Aga of my own! My first one was a 2-door and then we moved house ten years later and inherited a coal-fed Aga which was incredibly efficient but the kitchen always had a a layer of coal dust about and also it was quite a challenge 'feeding' it and emptying the ash-pan twice a day! Six months after we moved we had a beautiful 4-door Aga installed and it is SENSATIONAL! My husband is a huge fan and he makes our porrige last thing at night for our breakfast the next day! I am sitting here in the kitchen on a bitterly cold Janurary afternoon, the heating is not on yet, but I am as cosy as anything! I consider myself to be extremely fortunate to be the proud owner of such an amazing invention.
