treble AGA saga – Carol

This is the third AGA, fourth if you count a Rayburn, that I have lived with - five if you count my grandmother's and six if you count the one in a house we inherited and owned briefly, which was one of the earliest in this country, installed in 1929. The one I grew up with was white, 4 ovens; the one we put in to our house in 1979 was red, 4 ovens, and the one I live with at the moment was put in by by parents in 1967 - white, 4 ovens. The first and third ones have been used for all the traditional things like resuscitating poorly orphan lambs and drying kindling, as well as doing the ironing and a bit of cooking. The red one in between did not have sheep as it was in grain country, but reared 4 children and all their school uniforms. The red one has been inherited by another family with four children so is still doing the ironing. The current white one does the ironing for holdiay cottage bedding as well as catering for umpteen large young men after a hearty day's shooting excercise. What would one do with out it?
