A Moving Story – Josephine

In September 2003 my much longed for 4 oven gas Aga was finally fitted after a wonderful kitchen extenion. It was the 'icing on the cake' and we entertained and enjoyed the 'heart' of the house. We made the difficult decision to move to be nearer our family and surprisingly everyone interested in the house didn't want an Aga - we were amazed at the negative remarks but finally sold on the condition that we removed the Aga.We wanted another when we moved but thought it would be a difficult and messy job to move an Aga - but no - my husband and son (both mechanical engineers) dismantled it carefully and we stored it in a friends's garage until we were able to find an ex-Aga engineer to instal it (after living with it in bits in the hall for 3 weeks) and it has been a wonderful comfort for over 2 years especially as we can't wait to move back to our original area and will be taking our dear Aga with us if possible. Jess, our lab, and Kitty, our new kitten, spend hours together just under my feet as I cook! So watch this space - housing market allowing - hopefully another moving Aga story - 3rd time lucky?
