Replacement Aga – Jim

We inherited a converted cream two oven aga (traditional model) with the house in January. It was in a sorry state with a cheap oil conversion. I remember this ag when I was a child as I grew up here. It has survived two owners since but was so poor in terms of efficiency and had not been cared for. We took the plunge and decided to replace it with a reconditioned 4 oven in cream in March this year. We completed a lit of research first as you hear all sorts of horror stories about recond and converted agas and we wanted to get it right. We settled on Aga-Twyford in Hereford and it was a truly amazing experience - great customer service, no hard sale and they delvered exactly what we wanted. The aga has been in since March and other than some issues with our newly lined chimney giving too much draw (now sorted) the aga is now well and truly at home. The downside is the running cost - we estimate about £25 a week, but we do get a warm kitchen and an 'aired' house as well as the cooking - and as they say - you don't buy a big car and then moan about the running costs do you? - worth every penny
