My favourite old lady – Sarah's Aga

I can't decide whether to call her Hilda or Agnes, but either way our Aga is a real old matriarch. We inherited her with the house, like a troublesome inlaw. Bossy and brazen, she burns any dishes she doesn't agree with (particularly any from Nigella, I get the impression she thinks Nigella's a bit of a hussy....) but leaves my kitchen warm and cosy first thing in the morning and last thing at night. I wouldn't be without her, especially when she turns out the best pancakes, perfectly cooked on a frosty Sunday morning.
