The ups and downs! – just got to be me!

When we first moved into our derelict home the 'old girl' was sick she was fixed after moving her and although she had no way of controlling the heat fabulous dishes were created - if nothing else it brought us into contact with our roots!-if it was windy you would choose dishes that were cooler cooking temp and if was wasn't the door was left open if for no other reason we could smell it burning....... I even cremated a Christmas cake one year and had tomatoes that you had to know what they were to recognise the charcoal remains! This led to a postcard which read 'If you can't smell it burning it must be salad!' When the power is off for days the hot water still remains and i can still give a hot meal to all who call. On the up side because they far weigh out the funny ones and sometimes expensive ones, we have had some amazing dishes, but Jacket potatoes just has to be a favourite with a nice bowl of soup, of course simmered away for the flavours to mingle on the hob. A friend would ring me after flying and ask for a Jacket Potato to be put in for when he got home as he loved them and casual conversation revealed he'd in a former life been a French Chef! I've also revived lambs using the warming oven and yes that works as many a farmers wife will tell. Traditional cooking - slow - to release all the flavours and make the meat tender, to be able to rely on the quality everytime is what makes AGA - AGA. Nothing tastes quite as nice as AGA cooking it makes the difference, a slow cooker, warmer, heater and versatility all rolled into one. We sadly said our farewells to my old girl- yes and tears were shed but are now looking forward to the arrival of the new AGA and many more exciting dishes to prepare and enjoy, with a thermostat that will work too! What else provides heat, food and a special love to a family? An AGA does it all and that's from a girl with four generations of AGA behind her!
