AGA Stories

the desire for an aga – cobweb

I had always wanted an aga since coming across one in a holiday cottage where we were kept warm as well as fed. We were looking to move to Hampshire and came across an aga in a house we considered buying. We were not able to buy this house but when we found the house we now live in my partner/husband agreed we could buy one within 2 years as we could not afford it then. Some 10 years later with some money I had inherited alongside our own household money we bought a new aga having been on the waiting list for a second hand one for over 18 months and I could not wait any longer. I have never regretted what seemed like an huge expense at the time but wish I had just done it sooner. I persuaded my partner/husband to attend my first cookery demo and he was again shell shocked at the price of anything aga. He paid for one aga pan only but even he now agrees that it has been the best pan we ever bought although John Lewis do run you a close second! All my four children love the warmth and food that comes out of the aga and are all arguing about who is to inherit the aga-which as I have pointed out does happen to be connected to the house which we may have to sell now they are all off to Uni.I hope not.
