Always Wanted An Aga – Laura

We moved here and there was a cannon eyelevel cooker in situ - very old. Redesigned kitchen bought another cannon glass lidded cooker. Firstly the enamel chipped off the pan supports - they were replaced. Then cooking Christmas dinner lights flickered, unbeknown to us it turned itself off. Several other minor mishaps and then again cooking Christmas dinner for 12 (hubby does the cooking) he took out turkey and spilled fat onto flame at back, which we couldn't relight, had to wait till oven cooled and then poke out with a needle. Naturally ladies he didn't do that. On hands and knees and head in the oven job was mine! I think had there been an axe to hand he would have smashed it. During the subsequent conversations about a replacement I said the only other cooker I would ever buy was an Aga which we couldn't afford and if he wanted something else he could go and get it himself. So...fate is wonderful sometimes, looking through local paper and there was an advert for 2nd hand gas Aga buyer to collect but fitting included, even in blue which I wanted, but it had been sold when I rang. So I left my number and asked if it should fall through for any reason would they contact me..lo and behold thats what happened. Spooky eh! Now hubby is an absolute convert, the only problem is he turns it off in the summer and then we live off the BBQ.
