AGA Stories

The converted Man – Deborah Collier

When my husband and i were restoring our house, I was insistent that we had an AGA. Having learnt to cook on one and having lived in a house for years with an AGA, I knew what a trusty friend this would be to us. Having spent a fortune on renovation our home,he nearly fainted at the price and couldn't understand why we couldn't have a cooker for a fraction of the cost. We compromised, we agreed that if I earn't the money to pay for it, we could have one installed. I slogged away for the best part of a year and 4 days before Christmas in 2003 with 12 family members coming for Lunch, my lovely AGA was installed! Here we are 5 years later and my husband wouldn't have anything else. Our trusty friend keeps us warm in the winter, dries the childrens paintings, germinates my flower seeds, and cooks beautiful food. It is the envy of our friends who dine with us and as for my husband? I have heard him on numerous occasions singing it's praises and two of his friends have bought AGA's!
