Singapore Dreams – Sandra

Having always had a love of farmhouse kitchens, hedgerows, cookery and all things country, I had to live in the tropical, humid heat of Singapore for 4 years when I first got married. This experience, although one not to be missed, was very alien to my pysche; air-conditioning, shopping malls, tourists, traffic, no seasons, no singing birds, no oven ...the list is endless. I was fortunate to obtain work in a teaching centre while there and my salary went into what became known as 'The Aga Fund'. This essentially is what kept me going - knowing that I would have my farmhouse kitchen on my return to the UK. This dream was realised in September 1998 with a 2-oven claret Aga, and I continue to love my 'fire engine' more and more every day.
