From dirty heap to precious companion! – starling-hill

My husband had always wanted to live in the house owned by his aunt and uncle. I had no such desires - my cottage was just about finished as I wanted it. Out of the blue they announced they were emigrating so their house would go on the market if we didn't want it. Looking round the only thing in the house that I slightly liked was the rather dirty, quite smelly and unused Aga. However, i was very dubious I'd ever learn to cook on it. Twelve years later the Aga has been transformed by frequent, loving cleaning and constant use into the central feature of the house. We often entertain friends in the kitchen/dining area and many just enjoy resting on the Aga to absorb the heat.I spenf hours baking and cooking - just for the pleasure of doing so and can no longer imagine a house without the Aga. I'd really like to upgrade to a three oven Aga so i can bake with less risk of the burning - but I'll have to save up a while longer for that!
