Love Affair – Dasu

1973 we moved in, we had just bought a nice gas cooker a couple of months before only to find there was no gas supply, How to cook? We would have to use the coal fired Rayburn, winter time great heart of the home wonderfully warm kitchen, the kids loved gathering round especially drying off after a bath, mind you cooking chips in summertime meant you usually lost a couple of pounds in excess wieght.blooming pain when the fire went out chopping wood, cleaning out the basket laying a new fire etc, 1978 a complete modernization of the house meant the old Rayburn just did'nt suit the surroundings. In came the gas in came a new cooker not much to say after that. But wait 2003 it's time to change the kitchen "what shall we do" asks the attentative husband, "well" says the introspective wife "I'd love an AGA for 30yrs I've missed the old Rayburn" that was it; first came the new Pewter Gray four oven AGA then the units built around it, Five years on three stone heavier and one very happy wife, I still think it was a good move on my part. I did try to get our goldie Llew to pose in front of the AGA but he won't share it with anyone.
