Gertrude – Ian

I am ridiculed by most of my family for explaining the following to visitors who ask about our Aga and /or the food that comes from it. Above the Aga is a picture of a cow, which we have named Gertrude. I explain that Gertrude is there to welcome all the animals into the Aga, where they are then cared for and then given back to us with love. This is the special ingredient that makes the food taste differently.
