My Aga Saga – Penny

Having an Aga was an impossible dream (like owning your own 'plane). When we planned our new kitchen we discussed having a range, but couldn't really justify it for just the two of us, but when my husband died and I had to finish the work we had been doing to our house I changed the plans we had made and decided on the Aga. Its not for the way it cooks - that's a bonus - but for everything. My Aga makes my house...my home... comfortable to be in even when its a mess ,which is far too often at the moment. My Aga makes my kitchen warm and cosy and cheerful. The oven is always on so I don't not cook because its too much bother to put the oven on and clean up afterwards. I've always loved to cook and with my Aga always there, always ready, I'm slowly getting back into it. Some days I can't be bothered but even then with my Aga its a pleasure to make tea and toast, listen to the kettle whistle and eat that delectable toast while I huddle up to my Aga. It is worth every penny I paid for it because what I get back cannot valued monetarily. The first thing I cooked with my Aga was 30 jacket potatoes for a curch social...despite reading it up I had no idea how they would turn out, but I was thrilled at how easy it was. I'm still learning. still experimenting and I've produced some tradiional 'burnt' offerings but I'll get there eventually. My daughter loves my Aga so much she'd like me to leave it to her in my will..'though we both know that is just toooo impractical..nice dream 'tho'. Funny how we couldn't justify a range for two people and yet I can't do without my Aga for just me, isn't it?
