AGA Stories

Prejudice and Price – Annabella

The Aga in our first cottage had been badly converted from coal-burning to oil and sulked the entire time. Not even the hens would eat my attempts at Yorkshire pudding. I might never had gone near another Aga, except we inherited one when buying our current house. It was of the same age as the first, but we had it professionally refurbished and it is now an absolute joy. It roasts meat and bakes bread from heaven, while the slow oven produces the best-ever casserole dishes after about 5 hours of gentle cooking. The kitchen is always warm and the tea-towels always dry. I now cannot imagine life without it.
