AGA Khan – woop2y

In 1993 I had heard of eggs being hatched on an AGA and decided to have a go. Two eggs were put in a tissue box and placed at the back near the flue. Ducks take about 28 days to hatch so I turned them regularly and sprinkled water over them and waited like any expectant Mum. It was a Saturday when I noticed the first crack and when I put the egg to my ear I could hear the first sounds. I talked to him and encouraged him. By now I was up to high doh and carefully placed my baby-to-be in a tea cosy and kept it by the range. I After many hours the beak appeared. Eventually Aga 'Khan' appeared very bedraggled but with the warmth from the Aga he soon dried out to a lovely fluffy duckling. I would line the settee with kitchen roll (believe ducks are poop machines)and he would stretch out beside me in front of the roaring fire beak open peching with the heat. He would follow me about the garden and was really distraught if I left him. Then came the fateful day when he was introduced to the pond and the other ducks. Within a couple of days he had forgotten all about me - ungrateful wretch. He is no longer with me but I still remember him with huge affection - and all down to my lovely AGA.
