AGA Stories

Long Awaited – tashacat

We lived in an old semi-detached farm cottage for 17 years, we then bought the the other half and started the long job of knocking the two into one large house. I said "when the kitchen is bigger I am having an Aga cooker". I went to my local Aga shop and decided what colour, modal etc I wanted. Time went past and as we are building contractors the work on our own property was very slow. I went into the Aga shop every few months and kept my hopes and dreams alive, I also saved a little money towards the Aga each month. Finally the great day arrived, 11 years later!!!!! and my dark blue, 4 oven Aga was fitted. We have had 12 very happy years with it, it dries wet work clothes, sports gear, horse rugs etc, it also produces wonderful meals and is the focus of our entertaining, I can't get people out of the kitchen.I entered the Aga "Cook of the Year" contest about 10 years ago and was one of the Scottish runners up! I would never live in a house without an Aga. My husband says when it is off for servicing its like a death in the family! Long may the Aga reign!!
