Jeremy Clarkson called it a Morris Minor of cooker – Jumble Jim
Jeremy Clarkson once described AGAs as being the Morris Minor of the cooking world. Well, as a former Morris Minor owner, there's not much wrong with that as far as I'm concerned....no, it won't do 0 to 120 in 6 seconds, but it's wonderful for soup (the AGA not the Morris Minor!). We had reservations when we were first considering an oil fired AGA given the current trend in oil prices, but in fact we are now saving oil by having an AGA! I keep a very close watch on energy usage with a series of spreadsheets and monitoring devices, and since our AGA has been installed we now use less electricity (none used for cooking) and an average of one fill less of oil per year (1300 litres) because we don't need the central heating on as much as we did beforehand (background heat from the AGA is sufficient). What a surprise....so Jeremy Clarkson, put that in your scrap book on Morris Minors and AGAs (and they were a very cheap and useful little car)....and George (one of our three cats) does so enjoy the warm glow from Mommy AGA as you can see in the picture.
